The Game Awards 2018 is about to kick off in LA with more than 10 brand new games set to be announced as well as updates on huge existing titles.

It’s the biggest line-up The Game Awards has ever had and there are plenty of rumours swirling around about what could be announced.

The Game Awards creator and producer Geoff Keighley last week revealed that this year’s event would have a bumper line-up.

He tweeted: “We have such an incredible show coming together for next week. More than 10 new games will be announced for the first time during #TheGameAwards plus updates on existing titles too. We will share some teases in the days to come”.

Ahead of the Game Awards 2018 kicking off Express.co.uk has rounded up some of the games that could get announced, according to the rumour mill.

GAME AWARDS 2018 – METROID PRIME 4

Rumours are circulating that Nintendo could make an announcement on Metroid Prime 4 at the upcoming Game Awards 2018.

Metroid Prime 4 was announced during E3 last year with only a logo shown for the game.

Since then the House of Mario has not revealed any more on the Nintendo Switch title, with fans still awaiting in-game images and footage.

But that could all be about to change at The Game Awards 2018.

A number of prominent tweeters have posted hints that Metroid Prime 4 could be getting a big reveal at the Game Awards 2018.

While ResetEra is also abuzz with claims that Samus’s next adventure could be getting showcased at the major gaming event.

Tweeters such as GameXplain’s Jon Cartwright, YouTuber Spawn Wave and Direct Feed Games all dropped hints about Metroid Prime 4.

Speculation about Metroid Prime 4 dates back to September when Geoff Keighley tweeted a picture of him with Nintendo bigwig Reggie Fils-Aime.

Reggie was seen wearing a Metroid T-shirt and alongside the picture Keighley wrote: “See you in December!”

GAME AWARDS 2018 – AVENGERS SQUARE ENIX

The Avengers project, being helmed by Square Enix, is one highly anticipated game that not much is known about it.

Square Enix revealed a short teaser trailer on the Avengers game back at the start of 2017 but since then not much has been revealed on it.

It was thought the Japanese gaming giant would give a big update on their Avengers game at E3 but that came and passed without any news.

However, that could all be about to change soon – with the Avengers game rumoured to appear at the upcoming Game Awards 2018.

The Russo Brothers, the directors of Avengers Infinity War and the upcoming Avengers 4 movie, will be appearing at The Game Awards.

With a rumoured Avengers 4 trailer about to launch soon also, it seems like now is a good time to also reveal more on the Avengers game.

Revealing more on these two projects around the same time would surely create plenty of buzz for the Marvel blockbuster and upcoming PS4 game.

GAME AWARDS 2018 – BLOODBORNE 2

Souls fans will be hoping a surprise Bloodborne 2 reveal will take place at The Game Awards 2018.

Last year From Software’s latest game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, was teased at The Game Awards with a mysterious teaser trailer.

At the time it was unclear what game was being teased, with it only become apparent later on during the title’s proper reveal at E3 2018.

And with all the teasers and hints Bloodborne fans have been spotting recently, it could be possible that a Bloodborne sequel is in the works.

The latest rumours about Bloodborne 2 come after the release of From Software’s PSVR title Deracine.

This features an item referred to as the Fiona Doll, which contains an interesting nod to Bloodborne.

The item description reads: “A doll of the stone girl Fiona, who appears in the unfinished tale. When a person has a bad dream, Fiona appears and helps them flee.”

The doll is also performing the ‘Make Contact’ gesture, which suggests that the Bloodborne tale isn’t over.

And YouTuber VaatiVidya has also pointed towards a book that can be found within Deracine called Blood and Bones.

VaatiVidya suggests this shows that the next Bloodborne game could be set in Loran before it was consumed by sand.

The video speculates that the Blood and Bones description could reference Inca and Aztec culture.

• The Game Awards is being held in LA next week with it kicking off at 5.30pm local time on Thursday December 6.
